Botanical Interests Acquired by EPIC Gardening

EPIC Gardening, a portfolio company of The Chernin Group, has announced its acquisition of Botanical Interests. Based in Broomfield, CO, Botanical Interests designs, manufactures and sells vegetable and flower seed packets and other high-quality gardening products.

Botanical was founded in 1995 by Judy Seaborn and Curtis Jones. Experienced gardeners themselves and focused intently on serving their growing community, Botanical became known for its bright and informative seed packets and service to independent garden centers, and soon developed a fiercely loyal tribe of customers. The Company has a broad national footprint, with its products available in over four thousand retail stores, including garden centers, natural grocery stores (Whole Foods, Sprouts, and Natural Grocer), hardware stores (ACE, True Value) and a wide variety of other locations. Botanical Interests experienced remarkable growth over the past few years, as interest in gardening grew during the Covid-19 pandemic, and for many people this nascent hobby quickly bloomed into a guiding passion.

Epic Gardening, started by Kevin Espiritu with a mission of teaching the world to garden through practical, entertaining content, has amassed over 6 million followers across its social media channels in less than a decade. Recently featured in a New York Times article on financial sponsor TCG and the creator economy, Epic is the leading content-to-commerce company for gardeners. The combination of Epic’s content and reach with Botanical Interests’ retail network, exceptional brand, and loyal customer base is sure to – ok, sure, we’ll say it – blossom and bear fruit.

ClearCreek served as exclusive financial advisor to Botanical Interests, and, despite our long history of being unable to nurture any plants other than cacti, could not be prouder to help Judy and Curtis realize their dreams for financial security and find a terrific partner to honor and grow their legacy.
